"if res removed from planet", aye, and there you've hit part of the problem. The capture issue is easy (in fact, I'm thinking of implementing it anyway, since it makes sense), but leaving the res on the planet requires querying the market for any action which involves resources. Further, will this not leave the same problem for which total limits were suggested to begin with?

Also, by limiting access, you could have something that only allows you to buy your own res down to the planet that sold them, or somesuch. Anyway, not a big deal, as not under consideration atm.

By limiting total res, I meant per player, as per your suggestion in the post above it.

I agree partially with your best way, but it still doesn't prevent all undesireable behaviors. Also, finding some way to efficiently lock the marketed resources my take more thought, as I have yet to come up with an effective solution to that problem. (planet capture is easy though: delete all offers from market where player = planet owner and planer = captured planet). Ah, another thing we could consider: limiting transaction speed (for buyers or(logical) sellers), ie, making it take a day before they are posted/arrive. Ofc it would be many times easier on the offer side ;P. Anyway, I might have to bite the bullet and just come up with a crock to keep res on the planet and market simultaniously. I'm hoping inspiration will strike me before then though ;P.

Ah, I've rambled on too long. Gomen. -_-

dont see whats so hard to figure out

1. 1 mil recs in total on the market limit

2. Player ability to cancel an offer with say a 5 percent deduction if you cancel or total refund if you like.....

3. Post player names with offers, which helps you to chose who you wanna buy from, "free market"....

4. Combine or put Market in Trading Forumn, I cant check nerby as fast now cuz the damn Market button its there and I keep pressing that :), plus Market being in trading forum ensures more trading forum activity in and environment made for a Market and keeps Market from interfaring with battle engaged gameplay

:)

Being able to trade on the market from a ship would be cool so and having the sellers name next to the res would be most excellent both from a free market perspective and from the perspective of being able to place trade sanctions on players from time to time. We would also be able to see who is flooding markets and who is using it to hide res from capture. No need to limit res on market if we see names :D Perhaps if they place too much of their stock on the market there could be a hostile take over bid button which would allow other players to buy a percentage of the res hidden in safety on the market and also get them the planet or ship that the res was being traded from :D

Players should be able to see what they currently have on offer easily and should be able to withdraw from market with at 20% of credit cost.

How about the ability to see who wants to buy the res before sale is confirmed and then players could have addional sanctioning abilities.

Eventually perhaps it would be possible to link a players offered price to their morale or something so that their credits received get a premium bonus when morale is high and suffers a deficit when low but the buyer still pays the offered price. This would represent the public confidence in the player trading :D

Yeah just say the same stuff I said :)
zerohrs you cant take your goods to market and still have them. it makes sense that th recs could be on a ship, but if you wanted to access them, then all youd have to do was cancel the order, however yourrecs on shipo could be pirated and then your order wouldbe automatically cancelled and you get no recs cuz theyve been stolen, ...... so what Im saying is, the recs should still be on plannet or ship but inaccesable unless you cancel sale post, or if taken by another player, and the recs for sale wont count towards plannet def, so they'll be a nice littlwe bonus if a selling ship or plannets is taken / captured/pirated :)

as for limit, if you connected your level of moral to how much youre allowed to sell then that would be good, high moral sell as muchas you like, low moral, you get the idea
negative moral, you cant use the market lol :)
or just implement the bloody limit, for the sake of free market. equal across the board

Well, it seems a some form of tax for buying your own res seems popular, and is easy enough to implement. My main concern over leaving res on the planet is "the recs should still be on plannet or ship but inaccesable unless you cancel sale post" that that is very much easier to say than to do :P. It's like saying that TCP packets should be allowed to arrive out of order, and the receiver needs to reorder them on their end, but quite another to implement a sliding window algorithm ;P. Otoh, taxing people who buy back their own stuff is about as easy to do as to say, and adding a page to let people see their own offers isn't much harder than it sounds either. So for me, any solution which doesn't take weeks to implement is slightly preferable to one that does ;P.

Also: (on google, "define: free market", the wikipedia entry (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_market)): A free market is an idealized market, where all economic decisions and actions by individuals regarding transfer of money, goods, and services are voluntary, and are therefore devoid of coercion and theft (some definitions of "coercion" are inclusive of "theft" ). Colloquially and loosely, a free market economy is an economy where the market is relatively free, as in an economy overseen by a government that practices a laissez-faire, rather than either a mixed or statist economic policy.

What does that have to do with seeing people's names? I'd say this is a pretty free market. No taxes, and the SL "government" currently doesn't limit things like who can buy from who, or limits to how many resources can be sold. Your recommendations actually suggest that you don't want a free market at all ;P. (CJ's usage seems to simply be irrelevant, though I don't study economics, so I could be wrong ;P).

Finally, selling from a ship would be very difficult, serve little purpose (planets have more room to sell from anyway), make the interface that much more complicated, and difficult to logically justify (planets having markets makes sense, but very few cargo ships have their own market). So in short, I'd rather not ;P.

My apologies if I have offended anyone.

lol I see youve been studying too much data entry and encoding lol :)
Right yeah I thought the program it would take to do, the whole on plannet but inaccessable thing, would be pretty difficult..... but people rather prefer a better reason than, your idea is stupid or not logical.... so I was trying to me nice and explain it to zero there :)

Now free market.... at current you Cant buy from who you want to because you dont know who the heel youre buying from, in a free market the consumer is allowed to have favorite supplier, for no reason other than they like the person, so If digiat had a shop and the Market no one else would be getting my credits :) Now you get what Im saying?
post names next to the offers and walla, free market to buy from who you wish,no matter what the price :)

And will you please implement the cancel order function, and tax that, I thought I explained how stupid, and mostly illogica lbuying your own recs back was... do I have to explain liquidity again? :)

Now as for selling from a ship, tis understandable that you dont get the idea..... :)
If I were to sell from my 2.5 mil. Trader that was situated at random coords somewhere in the SL universe, whatre the odds that someone would find it and pirate? at this moment in time there are no ship scanners and ships cannot be located cept by manual searching but plannets can, via Nerby and the bloody warp, as you know recs are much safer on ships than on plannets, and if the limit on the market were i mil recs total and the largest ship is a 2.5 mill?...... why would you?

Its not that complicated Iridayn :)
and no offense taken :)

Market is good enought why do you try to do it worse adding "limits",taxes, and other useless stuff?
Have nothing to do?
The same thing was done with assaults. Why exp was lowered?
Every day you find out something new how to damage game...
Why you do so? Want to show that you cary about game?
It's better to do nothing then...
