Well, Filas, the option you suggested WAS on the survey. Zero for defense and 1% or more for non-defense. Well, maybe the troops versus energy split was not there, but the lower interest on defense definitely was there and most players voted against it.

1. until I get intrest just for keeping troops I won't waste them for attacks.
2. If I got no interest for both T and E, I won't keep these res on planets, so bert will start to cry that he can't attack my HW, because I don't have it

And something about classification of the res. There are not only def res and non def res. there is third type of res - attacking res which are troops only. And this is very important.

Yes you will if there will be a nice interest on non-defensive
And don't forget the market. And don't forget the buildings. Hws won't go anywhere even if we'll get rid of interest for all resources. Just non deffensive resources are needed to waste more hydro to your enemy - he'll come and come to admire what a beautiful target you have

However, keeping interest on energy but not on troops is a good compromise.

There are some aspects of that I do not like, but I don't like status quo much either.

I have not much non defensive and all of them will be used for building attack fleets if there is no res for both T and E, so there is not much sense for keep HWs for me. It's much better to let others to grow interest on non defensive and then capture them all
Of course when I need to sell something, I can make temporary HW, but chance to find and cpature it is very small.

of course HWs won't go away, I was talking only about myself and some others who have not enough non def res to encourage them to keep HWs. Also my HWs has no turrets and all buildings on them already gave me more than I invested to buid them. Of course for these who invested a lot in building turrets, and has more non def res, leaving HWs won't be a good idea - they'll need to defend their fortress. So, like I told, Bert will be crying that I can attack him, but he can't attack me
