As some of you guys may have noticed, we've gotten a small number of new players joining recently. While it looks like some of them weren't, haven't, or just do not want to get through the first few missions i'd like to take this time to get everyone on the same page.

It's pretty obvious that I am not a 'new' player by any means, but I am also not a 'veteran'. I've been around ever since Duo Maxwell lead The Maxwell Brigade, but never took the game seriously enough to get well known and have played on and off for years since then. Most of my game-time was devoted to Fatelords, but that is a topic for another day.

I was here when Professor took over the game, and I check up on the forums almost every other week hoping to see the community I had loved grow back to what it once was.

This will never happen without active ... seriously active recruitment. And some help from you guys, and definitely some help from Iri.

I want you guys to help me promote SL. With the way social media works, forums such as Reddit, and other avenues are our biggest and surest way to grab some new players, and those players to grab new players. I've known all of you for years, whether it was personally or not. I have seen some of you grow up, have kids, get married, and it's really a beautiful thing we have here.

Let's share this with other people. My hope is more and more people will continue to come and try out the game. If they do not like the game, then that is not our fault. But we must help and support those of the newer players that do. Let them see why we have been playing Skylords for almost a decade and why we continue to come back to this game even though some of us have given up on it.

I have put up three topics on three seperate reddit subforums that have been up for a few hours now. Looking at the News screen i've seen almost 5-6 new sign-ups that i'm hoping will increase over time, though it looks like the majority of them have not begun the tutorial successfully.

I will continue to look for new popular subreddits where we can promote this game. I ask that everyone do the same and link the forum posts here so others may share some of their experiences and stories and why they love this game. I would like Iri to come and let everyone know that the game is not dead and that he continue to slowly works on the game during his time so that the new players know their suggestions and problems are being heard. It's up to us to turn the fate of this game around, there's no reason we can't have the type of activity we used to.

We are a small community, but with a handful of us doing our part, we can easily grab a few players at a time, and help them establish, and then grab a few more, and then a few more. We have a very rich atmosphere here, a amazing community.

Damn I like where your head is at. I'm not a member of reddit or any forums atm so I'll make an account and help out. But I am most definitely here to help out new players when they have questions or need guidance. One of the main problems I saw with this game recently was the lack of up to date information available for new players. Being as I am on daily I am making sure that is no longer an issue.

We've now officially gained something in the realm of 20+ new players. It looks like only a handful were able or wanted to get past the first few missions.

Some of the suggestions i've been hearing on Reddit have been that the UI isn't very user friendly. It's difficult to navigate and know what you're supposed to be doing, and that the vertical and horizontal menu bars are displeasing and confusing. Maybe we should have one or the other, similar to the way Fatelords worked and had only vertical bars for menus.

@ ROS: I think a new handbook and updated tutorial guidelines are definitely needed. The newbie realm isn't as full of planets as it was when Deemers did his play-through and the credits definitely won't get you what it used to back in the day. It'd be great if you could write something for the newer guys.

Also it would help if we had more people posting, show that we still have a community here. I know the majority of you guys are active but silent, but no one wants to play a game where there's 3 people on the forums. We used to be really great at this.

Alright I'll start putting something together. And yeah you're right if you're on and reading this, come and drop a line and show the new players that there are people here playing actively.

yeah i think this is awesome. the game can be a little slow paced but once you get it going it can be fun. its just getting past that little tid bit. but thank you for doing this. i hope it continues to improve the game!

That UI feedback is valuable; we need to modernize the UI more than a little. I have been reading somewhat in my free time these past years about design, and I'd like to keep the same colors overall. Other than that, I have to fix up some backend code first, but I can make small UI adjustments.

I fear however that we need bigger changes, but I don't yet have a designer, nor do I think I can afford a good one for long enough; most I know do brochure websites, and would either ignore the complexities of game UI design, or would have to take a fair amount of time to comprehend the challenge - which of course will not be cheap .

Any design feedback at all is valuable to myself should I end up working on the design, or possibly still if I can find a volunteer designer .
