Not really, when I went through it last year I didn't have any nearbys and without warp it limits you to probing, which with how expensive gold is makes it tough to build many probes-

could stay in newbie as long as possible in order to safely accrue resources, but that is pretty boring- so I'd hop into real and if wanted to join a clan then talk to me or Fortran... or dogg but the pound isn't as active lately- then could get help with some additional planets and credits and spread out and work on your fleet if you wanted to-

or can stay out of a clan but still see about getting some help from people, some people are pretty friendly and helpful

My plan atm is to get a load of troops, and screw around in the magical land known as the "battlefield". I'll have to decide as I go how many troops are enough.

It's good to see some new active players coming into the game I've thought about making a kick starter campaign to raise funds for the game. If we want the game to grow with changes, advertisement, bug fixes and also have stability then the game needs a cash injection to make that happen.

Tom: I agree certain players have been allowed to grow their empires and that has helped everyone out.
