What happened to the reset? I thought SL was going to be reset. I really think it's required for SL's survival.

Honestly, I've run into more HW's than anything lately. There is such a huge amount of HW's and it's ridiculous. Really need to level the playing field in order to entice new players to stick around. Maybe start a small advertisement campaign, and advertise the reset.

What do you guys think?

there are a lot of HW's out there, but at the same time, if there was a reset, I would probably stop playing. I just don't have the time to devote to build back up again.

I would not be opposed to a rate of decay of deff resources on inactive accounts though. That could be interesting. Something along the lines of if you don't log into your account within a week, you start loosing 1% a week of deff.

Hey mojare, it's Drdysdy if you remember me.

It's gonna be a sacrifice everyone is going to have to make for skylords. truthfully, It will be much better in the long run. Is anyone even having fun with the current state of things? There is really no competition going on. we're getting very few new players, which will be the death of SL.

I've been using the warp, and I've noticed that there are very rarely anyone else doing that. That's because nobody needs planets. Most people have multiple homeworlds. The only people who don't are new players, and they die off very quickly. Veterans aren't attacking each other, there is no gain to it. Veterans don't even need production planets anymore.

Skylords isn't any fun anymore. If we lose some veterans in a wipe, it will be worth it because we will gain 10 times more new players. Most of those veterans won't stay away for long, because gameplay will be improved tenfold. More competition = more fun.

Sorry about my slightly incoherent rambling, I just woke up.

Actually looking at the current top 20 list on the home page, I'd say only about four maybe five of them are what I'd term power brokers, people that are sitting on enough HWs that they don't need to worry a ton about gathering planets.

The problem is programming time and funding for such and potentially for advertising also-
I'm not sure what happened to Will the programmer, haven't talked to him for quite awhile, and Iiri doesn't have time- but there are a couple changes that are supposed to be implemented, one being similar to what Moiare said a decaying in the resources on inactive HWs and also a rewrite of the new player missions- the problem is programming it- from what I understand Will had been working pro bono so far so tough to keep at it real hard I suppose.

I really believe HW's are the problem. You should never be able to have a planet that keeps you completely safe. No player should be safe, you should always be somewhat on your toes. If people we're constantly worried about being killed off, they would be playing quite a bit more often.

The playing field needs to be leveled. That's not something that's debatable in my opinion. Everyone should be thinking about new player retainment, not about their position in the game. Without a higher retainment rate, there is no game, at least not a very enjoyable one.

There are too many people who have the ability to take out smaller homeworlds without any kind of negative consequences. They have the resources to do it, and there are huge benefits to doing it. Hunting new players is beneficial and it shouldn't be. Veterans aren't attacking veterans, because they can't.

I think it's only a few people's reflections, everyone wants that game would be in accordance with its rules, and I think both the single and otherwise, will be the loss of some kind of a player and I think it is foolish to expect that change the game from the ground will attract more players

Also for running into a lot of HWs, currently there are only about 5,500 planets and about 18% of those are HWs, greens, or bz planets that I know of, the planet count is considerably down, but once again without Will around to adjust the drop rate then becomes an issue.

I just looked through the list and tallied it up- I figure there are 557 inactive HWs out there- those HWs comprise currently 47 Billion defense and 8.5 Billion non-def for an average percent non-def of 18%, which is a pretty poor take, it will take some time to clear them all out but if we get the decay in there then that will help out.

Within the past few months I know Wienisius, Cobra, Cork, Tweaker, and Azuolinas which are all active players and have all lost a HW or two and for inactives Professor has lost a couple and Dire Wolf also- I am not sure on any player under 5 stars that has lost a HW in that time-

This game is no different from any other that I have seen where you play on a server that has been around for some time, there are going to be power people, but that doesn't mean you can't build up- with the changes that are to be made to new player missions we think that it will help people get a quicker start and hopefully keep more interest/activity that way.

It's not that it will attract more players, but will provide new players with the ability to not get killed off straight out of protection. When that happens, they don't come back.

It's incredibly hard for a new player to get started in SL as it stands. That has nothing to do with the learning curve, and everything to do with the time that it takes to build up enough resources to where you can't just die over night. With so many veterans on the hunt, you need a very large homeworld to make you less of a target. Before you build a high enough HW, you are an ideal target. Your HW will be a low defense HW, which is considered a jackpot for any good player.

New players shouldn't be an ideal target, that's just stupid.

I'm sorry to ask, justanius, but WHAT new players? No new players have gotten past three planets since SL got back. Not a single one.

Besides that, were settled and all-powerful vets an issue before the crash? No, not at all. Ask anyone who joined in the year before the crash, me, exemplary strategy, some others. Did we lose some planets when we first got in the real arena? Sure, of course, but not notably more per period than during the months we were settling down. Did we get wiped out? Pffft. Not nearly.

The only thing that a reset is going to do now is chase the vets with less time on their hands away forever. Rebuilding an empire takes time, time which most don't have. Maintaining an empire and having some fun once in a while doesn't take more than a couple of weekends per month.

Personally from my own experiences in the rounds that have passed since the crash there is alot more activity than there used to be. Players not attacking players you say? Ive seen numerous hw take downs between veterans and clans.

New players are staying and the reason why there isnt so much is because there isnt 5 or 6 active clans recruiting the new players who join the game. MNIM i can give you a good few examples of new players that have joined the game and stuck around who enjoy the game and play it for fun. Having these hws lying around is a part of the game without resources there cant be attacks? The real problem is the players who possess those resources are either busy with real life or just not interested in playing no more. We should look towards new players amd helping them to succeed in the game like we was helped when we first played.
