Hmm. Active, rounds based attack, requiring allies to resupply your assault ship with more troops or it gets overwhelmed, but you can't leave the page or open another or it's lost - stronger support for fleet actions thusly. Less assaults lost though, but T cost of attacking can be fortified - shields have always been that way... Lemme sleep on it, and tell me what you think. Will cross-post in the morning.

So, here's the thought - use Comet based combat. (Comet is kinda like Ajax, but different ;) ). This makes combat take actual time. Also with transport piracy and planetary assault - all take time, but on the server ideally. Downside is, would require a separate server running server-side, and make JS more important to play, making life harder for screen readers, cell browsers, and the like possibly. Could be deployed in space only though. Let me know what you think - we're trying to make the space page more usable with fewer clicking.

I don't understand half of that- but making space page have fewer clicks, instead of only being able to click in the adjacent spaces around your ship, why not be able to click anywhere on the space page, four spaces away moves you to there instead of having to click four times.

Well that was my thought on that- as for attacking- having clan members reload the assault, assume would just continue to consume troops and diminishing defense- its an interesting thought, not sure how much would change attacking, still use shields which are a pain to get through if they are trained much, but make it a lil cheaper since not using up so much Iron, would make attacking easier.

I'm afraid I don't understand it either :) Does it mean crashing an assault on planet now would take time instead of being instant? How exactly would defense work, would you be able to destroy the assault while it's attacking your planet?

It seems like one of the suggestions is that you order your assault to attack, and it doesn't die right away, your teammates can keep pumping troops onto the assault to do more and more damage, but you have to sit there with the assault page open and do nothing else :/

I vote we raise the exp cap

hmmm. that actually make sense. that way the landing assault would act like a kind of node for the troops.

it sounds like fun, and i dunno maybe it'll make people think twice before doing homeworld attacks since you'd have to resupply the troops on your ships each time you attacked. and a homeworld attack takes a lot of ships.

do you think it would cost more troops per ship this way? or would the attacking capabilities of the ship increase to compensate for the time and effort needed to bring the reinforcements since it would give the victim extra time to react to an attack?

also, would the person who's homeworld is being attacked have to actively fend off the ships or would planet defences still be automated?

I have thought about it either iiri, though for me even a flash "mini-game" for space would work. I like that idea alot, i think that atm clans are useless, well not exactly you share info and such but in the end of the day it's nothing more than a group of friends playing together.
I'm not sure how you are in time but grpahics are rather outdated in SL if you do that even if just for space combat and then just make the graphics more XXI century it would be great.

PS- I thought the "chain of comand" thingy would go first thouhg, i'm kind of waiting on that to start playing this game seriously again ;).
