There were points when he called on all Iraqis to unite to kill Americans. But there were also times when he called on Iraqis just to stop killing each other for their own sake.

"Remember that God has enabled you to become an example of love, forgiveness and brotherly coexistence ... I call on you not to hate because hate does not leave a space for a person to be fair and it makes you blind and closes all doors of thinking and keeps away one from balanced thinking and making the right choice.

I also call on you not to hate the peoples of the other countries that attacked us and differentiate between the decision-makers and peoples. Anyone who repents - whether in Iraq or abroad - you must forgive him."

He did terrible things. But he called on people to end terrorism and to shy away from blind hatred. Had he been left alive to spread this message. To love and forgive. To not attack the people of the aggressors, meaning to not commint acts of terror against civilians. If he had continued to spread this word then perhaps there would have been a resulting decline in sectarian violence and he could of partially paid society back from the crimes he inflicted upon it. Even if he never started this reform then he could have been made to help rebuild Iraq. To help rise from its knees. That wouldve helped and been somewhat symbolic.

Instead he is dead. The world is outraged. Sectarian divisions have escalated and nobody is better off for his death.

He wasnt a good man, he was evil. But if we had given him a chance then perhaps he would be doing something proactive right now.

ok, one it was proven that Hussein wasnt in contact with Bin Laden or Al quaeda in general. Two, there operation in Iraq after the fall only goes to show that his topple destabilised Iraq and loosened thee borders allowing greater flow of men and munitions.
Three, Hussein ran a secular government and was hated by most terrorists for it.
Four, How the hell is he gonna crash an airplane or even organize a plot from within a highly guarded prison or work camp?

Five, if you didnt just read his lil spiel, he called on everyone to seperate, decision makers from the people or civilians. In the laughable event that he somehow had anything to do with any airplane ever crashing into Americans past from his tiny cell, he cleaerly indicates that if it were his jurisdiction it would be a military target.
Six, if you still somehow believe that he had WMD and connections to terrorists despite the fact that even Bush has resorted to just saying 'thats what everyone thought at the time" then why didnt he give his weapons to the terroristst? If he was so for blowing up the American people why didnt he give WMD to terrorists back when he had them in the first gulf war?

Saddam is a terrible guy, but hes secular and doesnt support Islamic fundamentlism. The basic idea behind al quaeda and other terrorist networks. he went to war against Iran and we gave him weapons and money to try and stop fundamentalism and terrorism. The whole argument is terribly flawed. We loved him because he hated terrorists and gave him money. Then he invades kuwait, controls just a little bit too much and suddenly he is a terrorist himself.

For some reason people still even think there were Iraqis on the planes that hit the trade center. There werent. Why dont we invade Saudi Arabia? They still have a absolute monarch and behead people on a regular basis. The irony and hypocrisy of who we support and who we go to war with is not lost on me or a good portion of the world. At least this time we didnt replace a democracy with a dictatorship like we did in Iran.

and RoS i ment if they went on a killing spree and killed 5 people in one day

there would be no trial he/she would go to jail forever (because it much more horible to set in a confined room with noone to speak to or be able to listen to the radio or watch tv they would have absolutly nuthing to do)

There body would be buried in the jail cemetary
