Changes in April round will be modest. Changes in May will be more dramatic. I anticipate a large reduction of interest, or change in the way interest is calculated at the very least which will have the same effect, during May round.

If you want to have a maxed out defense HW, you might want to get there during April round.

I told Filas and Hope to come up with a survey question which would get others to agree with lower interest. However, I am coming to the conclusion that that might not be possible. Therefore, I am issuing a warning now:

If we continue to have a nice peaceful and harmonious universe, with few attacks, then interest on all defensive resources starting May 1, 2006 will decline dramatically.

Peace is okay, to a point, but we have passed that point. In December, we were in danger of having no HWs left. In May, we have some danger of having a few players who have no planets that are not HWs left! Enough is enough.

Okay, I know Filas and a few others will say I have waited too long. They may be right, but I wanted to hear what most of the SL community felt about this issue first, and I felt obligated to comply with player votes when I asked for their feedback.

However, I reserve the right to make some decisions for the good of the game whether or not they are popular.

Next round, I will look at the points as of April 20th, and will decide what we will do in May based on attacks through April 20th. If interest will decline in May, it is possible that the last 10 days of April might become fairly active.

You have been officially warned. There should be no surprises. Changes are coming, in both interest and in other areas.

Oh yes, one change we will see in May round is the introduction of a Barracks Building to increase troop production. This will replace interest income in some ways, but the incentives to keep troops on planets will be much lower, so we might well see a rapid return to usage of troops for the purpose that they have been trained for, which is capturing planets.

I will have a survey in April, by the way, but the choices are not likely to include keeping interest as high as it will be during April round. Unless attacks increase a lot more than I believe that will happen in the next 20 days, then interest rates are going down in May even more than they have in April. However, non-defensive interest probably will not change.

Well, I had not done much analysis of number of HWs in the game now, compared to December stats. I did this comparison recently, and the change is astonishing. In fact, the number of players with multiple HWs is now larger than it was a year ago. So, I guess I went to far.

Time to shift back the other direction. Not to zero interest, but to lower interest. I will not change the shields, so it will still be costly to attack, but at least, the cost in lost interest will be less of a barrier to attacking. I have listened to arguements from Filas and Hope and a few others, and I have gotten converted to their viewpoint, which is also supported by game data.

However, I still don't want to change too fast, and when I make a decision and publish it, like interest for April round, it will stay that way. April is a transition month. May will be ... humm ... potentially a very interesting month. Get ready. You might want a few turrets.

Lol yeah, to be fair it is fairly easy to hide a hw now due to the decreased density of the universe. Whether LTC do make a stand next round you can be sure TS will follow

there are many ways in order to make the game more violent, e.g. Spies turning off shield points etc etc etc

However a change that works will be better... I hope one comes soon
