Just because "popular" kids like LOTR doesn't make LOTR popular. Whereas, I love Harry Potter and I dont give a damn to what anyone else thinks.

Oh why did you bring this up again? I hated it then and I hate it now.
LOTR is what popular kids like, because it has a simple plot and no real complicated actions. I got bored after the 2nd book.
Whereas Harry Potter doesn't need big battles and war to make it interesting; it has a complicated plot full of descriptive language and careful words.

ie.

LOTR Books: For readers who like excitement and action.
LOTR Movies: For stupid people who think they're smart, and only like them because they include wars and battles.
HP Books: For readers who really look into a good plot, and relish in the excellantly placed words (like me )
HP Films: Crummy film, they shouldn'ty have done it.

OK. alittle adjustment to the analogies, though Griffin's was the most accurate I'd say.......

Since I own all the books of both series and Ive watched all the movies. I'd say..... The HP Books are for Geeks..... Like Me....... People who enjoy a good plot.... and realistic stuff that actually would happen to teens were they placed in Harry's world..... JK. Rowling did go a bit too soft in the 4th book, and seemed to have lost the Real storyline in the 5th but picked it up just in time for the ending. what with Fred and George leaving Hogwarts.. (awsome)....

The HP movies ARE CRAP..... the movies are aimed at kids 7 to 11 yrs iold. while the books ar eaimed at teens 13 to 15.... but can be read by 11-17 year olds..... so you can see the problem..... the storyline in the movies are completely Fd

The LotRs Books are for people who enjoy books that are in Real Time so to speak..... No matter how fast you read. the journeys are long then battles are exciting but long enough.... and the relationships are ..... well complicated.....
Anyway.... the story line isnt necessarily simple. its just that.....
the main points ARE....
Evil Guy.... tied to his Evil Ring....
Destroy Both or None......
Evil Guy got seperated from his ring..... S
ends Minions to get it.....
Ring Bearer seeks to destroy ring in the only place it can be destroyed.....
which happens to be where the Evil Guy lives......

everything in between is just fillers to make the story interesting.....
Now the book can be boring, the movies are excellent because they cut all the journeys by 85% and left all the battles the same lenght.....
cut out most of the complicated and mushy relational love crap. but left in just enough for it not to be a downright brutal movie.......
Therefore we were left with the Perfect Medevial Action Movie........ With Nothing too complicated...... So Popular people who normally dont read much would prefer LotRs Over HP anyday...... because one set of movies Is Totally Awsome and the Other Set is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE......
but if you are a reader..... then you'd realize that. the HP books are actually More "Action Packed". per square paragraph. and are therfore more exciting than the LotR's books...

also.... LotRs books are complete. HP series isnt...... therefore a complete comparison is premature....... and theres always the fact that they are really different perspectives......
one from an Adults View.... or Adult World..... One From a teen's view.... in a Teen world. Hogwarts School..... and we know how different those worlds can be......

of course popular kids would like LotRs better because they want to be adults and kids would revere them in an unconscious sort of way because they seem more adult like. yet childish because of the dumb stuff they do.... but their adult manorism, like talking about sex...... or their car. etc... makes them seem cool and therefore popular.....

Oh by the Way..... I'm one of the most popular and Ive always been one of the most popular people in school...... because I do schoolwork seemingly effortlessly.... and I rock at just about every sport.... or it could be the girls I date... Hmm..... lol...... . this analogy has been brought to you by. MS...... please standby for public annoucement from YOUR local station. lol

Come on, LOTR books were VERY complicated and tragic.
And the people who like books movies based on them are always worse, that's a law, because you can't put everything the book had into 2 hour lenght movie.
No wonder those who liked HP or LoTR books didn't like the movies.
And let's leave school popularity discusion If you are calling someone a nerd because they like Harry Potter books, or get good grades, you are a child.
