There are other mechanics at play here. For instance ship shields, will they even be a thing? If not then we don't need to build new mechanics around it.

Unless something major is done in how attacks are done(which I don't see happening) ship shields should always be a thing lol

I think what he means is if the way pages are displayed on the screen changes with the recode (IE, not only 25 or 50 ships shown on attack by ship, or ships seen by type instead of name, etc.) then there shouldn't be mechanics built to accommodate how the code works now in case it changes.
