There's nothing like the feeling I get when I'm figging sectors and
some guy drops a planet on me... and I transport to my escape ship,
...photon torpedo him from an adjecent sector, and then drop a planet on him... totally turning the tables...

...or when I click a button, come back in an hour and my planet is
full of fuel, with all the equipment and organics sold already, billion
and a half credits sitting in the citadel, couple hundred mil on my
person.

Telnet should be located in your windows or system32 directory.
Telnet is very similar to rlogin.

if your running vista, it was disabled by default and you have to check a box to enable it.

Google mud client, then use (possibly) GMud. It's quite old, and not supported, but it's still got all the basic telnet features and enough more to make playing a text/command based game more enjoyable. Zmud is another popular choice.
