I guess with all of his 50 planets he has them filled up to where he gains points...

remember that every inactive player planet(dropped during the noob arena cleanup) can be worth as much as 200 to 500 points each. he must have found a lot with his probes you can theoritically get high points if you have a continous supply of inactive coords(again the probing) lol wish i had that much time/gold/RL money

He has not spent $50 every round, but he has spent something over $10 per round. I suspect that he is not as rich as you think, but he is willing to spend something (which helps support the game, so thanks for that).
