If new players joined an established clan, (like the new players guide suggest,) read the forums, asked questions about things they didn't understand, and yelled HELP if they were under attack in their clan forums then their chances of survival and actually enjoying the game would increase dramatically. When I first joined this game I read the statement "U will not survive if U don't join a clan" in the new players guide. So I joined SC. The first day out of my 7 day immunity, Deemers cleaned my clock and left me 3 planets. Dios came to my aid with fighters if I recall correctly, and the rest of the members of SC responded by passing me a few planets so that I wouldn't be defeated. And here I am now, almost 2 years later. There were tons of Homeworlds then, just like their are tons of homeworlds now.....Nothing has changed except some players have moved on and new players have joined. Not many new players but some. If I come across a new player that has over 4 planets, then I pm this person and ask " are U active?" If they reply "yes" then I try to help them better themselves in the game and I go on to pick on someone my own size. (unless of course, they decide to mess with me) If I don't get a reply then they are history. Maybe some other vets should try this and stop "noob bashing" and we might just build up a better player base. Resetting the game, doing a Mexican hat dance or praying to the Dalai Lama is not going to change anything. Eventually the game will come right back to this point if we don't start encouraging new players to join clans and teach them the game. The changes to the game that Professor has added and will hopefully continue to add keeps the game from becoming stagnant and repetitive (at least I think) . This just isn't a game U can start out on your own and be successful, it's designed to be played as a team, I think a lot of players come to the site with the thought they can solo from the jump and when it doesn't happen they get frustrated and leave. It's also not designed to leave unattended for long periods of time. I don't think a day has went by since I started playing that I haven't signed on at least for 10 minutes to make sure nothing really ugly is happening to my empire, and if U are one of those that does this, then expect to come back and find yourself minus a few planets or maybe even defeated for the month. That's my thoughts on the whole situation for whatever my thoughts are worth

Damn straight I did. I think the term is "brothers in arms". If I recall, we soon after had a large falling out when I left SC; rectified by my stint there for their anniversary?

Anyway onto the subject;

I agree with most of what you said Max, except the affect immunity has on newbies. I think most newbies who do well in immunity become arrogant. Sure, they hear the warnings about what could happen, but think "pfft.. that won't be me". I do feel more needs to be done for new players now. Teaching them the game would help a lot and most of what they need they can get from their clans. But for a starting point, I think more needs to be done. Besides tehre are still new players who don't want to join clans and those should not be forgotten

Ok funy thing is that i ran into dm and we had started to discuss max's post.....
Deemers: I must admit I agree with Max, if the game was resetted, everyone would just get their homeworlds back and since everyone would have 1 homeworld, no-one would

Deemers: want to risk a attack, so no-one would attack, resources would build up, and then everyone would be back to merry square 1 (btw, Merry Christmas everyone!

Deemers: So reset is not a good idea at all, what you lot need to do is fix the main attacking problem, which is basically the defense has SUPERIOR advantage. By the time

Deemers: you have taken down the turrets, people know of the attack already (not saying turrets are a bad idea, its a nice idea as it gives time for people to mount a defense)

Deemers: Anyway, in short, its game dynamics that need to be fixed.

Deemers: I'd say the repetativeness is also causing a problem, you log on, you gather resources, you, er, log off. Reason why being in clans is more fun is that you can

Deemers: actually do something fun, like a HW attack or training in BZ (hi thabin old bean! , and such. Going alone is not as fun.
