Indirect greetings from your long missing programmer! I have heard that there is some curiosity about why I have chosen to spend my own money to serve as a missionary for two years in a foreign language (which I didn't know before) in a location I last lived in when I was 3 and a half years old.

The answer I believe to be simple, to my mind anyway. It all starts with my love of truth, and from that, knowledge. I wanted to find out if God was real, and if He was, more about Him. I read the scriptures, and as they suggest (James 1:5, Moroni 10:3-5), I prayed, and asked God if the Book of Mormon was true, the word of God, and decided that an answer would resolve both His existance and the veracity of the Book of Mormon. I recieved my answer after praying nightly for about a week.

And so, I know that God lives. That He loves me, and all people, for all are His children. I know where I come from, why I'm here, and where I'm going after death. I know why bad things happen to good people. I know these things, and I want to share this knowlege which has brought me such joy with all people. And because I know that the Lord has called a living prophet to teach us His truths, and that this is His will for my in my life, I have accepted a call to serve as a missionary in a foreign place and language, so that I can perhaps help a few more of God's precious children ask Him to know for themselves.
