well i havnt a clue about formulae or anything but i no that u get points for shooting down fighters (get more points if it has a higher exp) and capturing or crashing assaults in to planets (same as fighters, the more defence it has the more points you get)

Points from SP Owned planet captured= Defense/1000
Points from Ship Destroyed= ship size / 1000 + attack / 1000 + defense / 4000 + exp of killed ship /2
