Shouldn't we be allowed to allocate all 30 points on production (with 4lvl generator) if we want so?
No we can set on production only 20 and we can't get rid of 10x shield even if we don't want it..

Does the generator make a shield or does the generator make production points? Perhaps your answer is within the question....

A better question would be - why would you make a shield generator if you didn't want the shield?

Well earlier shield generator provided points, you could decide whether to leave them on shield or to gather...ermm..as i remember

He's right Rukna, you have the Shield Generator confused with the Production Generator (which has yet to be invented)

Well i have a 18pt empty planet with shield generator 1. But i use 19pt for gathering. In this way with 4lvl generator i should be able to add 10 points to production if i'd want to. It's not a problem of course, just if shield generator works as production generator on a new planet, it could work the same way on the old ones too. Or don't work as production generator on both then. Some kind of desingn flaw now

Yes, sounds like yet another bug. You shouldn't have been able to reassign that production point. Mind giving me the details again?

Shield generator does not make iron or silicon or vital. It makes shields. Iron mine does not make shields or vital. It makes iron. Each building serves a specific function or purpose.
