While the odds can be stated for one genetic deveation to take place on the earth at a time, what do the odds become of two occuring on the earth in a close enough proximity for mating and for both to be of breeding age?
When calulating the earths age, both sides of the argument make the assumption that all things continue as they are now. While it has been shown that time is not constant when measured by the earths rotation. A minute is calculated by degree of earth rotation, or by the time required for a isotope to decay a given amount. There is an acceluration/deaceleration curve for all things. Our time for observation on some things is too short for a conclusion.
The Bible also states somethings that It never explains. Such as what was meant by the discription of the serpent: Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. (NKJ)
It could mean a lot of things such as serpents where the equivalent of man before the fall.

oh no dregnaought, according to the latest scientific reasoning it is you that is wrong.
At some point in time a bird, much like a chicken but not a chicken laid an egg.
The egg hatched and a chicken came out.
Part of the issue is that an animal does not evolve/change after it has developed. That is, I'm a human and won't change during my lifetime into another species. I suppose I could have a kid that is not human (like bat boy or someother mutant being) but I myself won't change.
Hence, the chicken hatched from an egg answering the old conundrum: which came first the chicken or the egg?

Evalution is nothing more then a story made up from looking at rocks.
It is no different from the tall tales made up from looking at the stars.
We just call it science now, and not lying.

The egg came first, water creatures, like fish, were the first animals to inhabit the planet, and as we all know, fish lay eggs..., unless the chicken outdated fish (which is scientifically impossible) the egg definately came first.

Not neccessarily true, what actually came first were single cell organisms that evolved over millions of years into types of animals, both mammal and fish, such as the ancestors of the whale or the dolphin who are mammals but live in the sea. I am sure that neither of these lay eggs

It is therefore possible that either answer is true. As animals evolved and grew legs, so the reproductive system could have evolved so that an animal no longer gave birth immediately, but rather laid an egg instead. Or the creature that ancestors the chicken could have laid an egg that happened to have the specific generic mutations that we now call a chicken.

Or maybe, there isn't actually a chicken, or an Earth, can we really prove that there is a chicken?

There is a place where science is based on fact, and another where it is based on conculsions of the observer. Which makes it science fiction and not fact.

well, we do know how old the universe is for certain

and dregnaought, there is observable evidence of evolution

example, there are documented cases of things happening like a shift will cause a river to become too wide to cross, 2 groups of the same species become stranded on opposite sides of the river, 50 years later, the river lowers and becomes crossable, but the two groups are now entirely different species

as far as the evolution of the human race, the human race isn't evolving physically very much because we use technology to compensate, so almost everyone survives, and if your disease references are referring to the fact that diseases kill more people or are more threatening, then you need to consider the fact that:
1) there are more people, so there are more people who can be killed and keep the percentages the same
and
2) the diseases are evolving to become more potent to become more dangerous, more infectious, and more resistant to immune systems and medicines
