* The planets could belong to an active player who will most likely have stored the coords and could just come back to retake the planets at a later date. This means you have wasted resources in capture and also lost resources on what you have produced between the time you captured the planet and the time it is recaptured.

Exactly, in fact if the planet is 20pp and belonged to an active player who will almost definately come take it back then it's slightly worse as (although production time is the same) you've lost more produced goods = less goods at your disposal. Why do you think selling x20 planets has such a good return of profit?

good now that u know that then maybe u understand why someone would want to oblit it after they captured it... so they cant take it back and load it up again... not everyone can aford to spread resourcesfrom other plants just to crank up that one... witch leads to just obliting it

lol no u dont.. u go for points and eliminate ur neighbors that way... u help urself by takin out all ur neighbors... if u have no neighbors then ur safe to build resources with no interference... and alot of ppl just take big planets for points to win the round... u dont have to keep the planet if u take it... thats why oblit was created

If you can't hold it, don't take it. You seriously injure yourself that way.

Skylark: If you can't hold you don't take is ridiculous. To hold a planet 24/7 would take fighters, transports and assualts dedicated to each planet and numerous resources on the planet so that turrets can be active and fire. It makes far more sense to have a HomeWorld or "Capital Planet" which acts as the center of your empire and then to have "x" amount of slave colonies.
