exactly, and any mutation however that somehow changes the lens to be better in some way, perhaps clearer or rounder will improve sight, and therefore enhance the survival capability of any animal with that mutation. so we get selection against genetic mutation, and better development of eyes...

perhaps we think of the fourth dimension [time] as being more important than any of the other obviuos dimensions.
this would mean that to demand to know WHEN the universe started is as unimportant as demanding to know WHERE it started.

we are getting better and better at traveling through three dimensions.
at one time just traveling in two dimensions was quite a feat.
then we started moving in three dimensions, and now we move in three dimensions with relative ease.

we are doing a fair imitation of moving in the fourth dimension with recording things, and playing them back later.
i am not calling this time travel, but it is giving us a fair idea of what we want.

traveling from paris to new york on the concord gives us an illusion of time travel by traveling quickly through three dimensions, and messing with our time keeping system.
it is not time travel anymore than recording movies and playing them back later is, but i say again that it gives us an idea of what we want.

but with that said, perhaps some group of beings found a way to dispose of toxic waste by dumping it into an alternate time/space continuem.
that space was not as large, or more fragile than the beings planned on.
it got full, and they continued to dump into it, and it went bang.
a BIG BANG.

so that would make this whole universe, us included, someon elses garbage pile.

so before you ask, where did those beings come from, try this.

they were dumping their garbage in the distant past.
