can someone please tell me the responsibilities that comes with moderating powers? apparently i came out of line so bad it provked dogg to act on it, he is pming professor because i post in one of his topics and refused to lock it? please tell me the harm in what i have done, here ill post mine and doggs convo.

In my opinion, Topic's shouldnt be locked unless they hold valuble information to the community and/or dont require people to post. If i understand right, Dogg is asking for his nap thread to be locked. This cant be done for 1 certain case, hell i would have locked mine ages ago if i could have ! And anyone who has the ability to post can despite weather they are a mod or not. If there is excessive spam in someones thread or it goes off topic, then sure, the starter can request that the spam is deleted but its alot simpler and less tackling if the starter of the topic deletes the whole thread and starts again. With a nap thread i dont see how such an issue can go OTT. Just delete it and start again if u are unhappy with peoples related responses.

i think if someone requests for thier topic to be locked i dont see a problem it will only fall off the front page quicker its not asif dogg wants it stickied or changed to an announcement

If thats the case then why do they even need to be posted in the first place unless there being cancelled. I remember a time when people used to keep them in PM's and there used to be long winded conversations, and then someone lost their list and started a trend of posting them and suddenly every one had a nap with everyones mom, uncle and cat. I see it like any other topic on any other forum, If you dont want people to reply.. dont post. Keep it to pm's and keep a list in Notepad. Im sure the diplo forum wasnt designed for peoples personal non-repliable lists.. why should nap threads be locked ?? Its trivial i know but give me a valid reason. But thats not the point of this thread really and i cant seem to find the thread which caused this issue to arise and weather it was even a NAP thread or not lol...

If prof agree's that its acceptable to lock peoples nap threads then ill quite happily lock them on request of the player but until then i wont. I already remove peoples unwanted replies if its off topic, plain spam or derogatory (at the thread makers request) But if its a harmless and a perfectly acceptable reply its not our job to remove it and we shouldnt be expected to.

Funny really. I used to think there was a sort of secrecy involved with naps. You never used to know who had a nap with whom. Now u can just look it up cant decide if thats a good thing or a bad thing.

Gold Rush has as much right to post in threads as anyone else as long as its not off topic, plain spam or derogatory. Being a mod he should uphold a certain degree of sensibility and if Dogg was upset with what was written then Gold Rush should have obliged and rephrased or deleted his OWN post, just as if he was a normal poster would. I dont think he is abusing his powers. If anything hes avoiding using them at all.. haha.
