There are many planets in the game that have been added which are owned by SP Confederation. One change I would like to see starting in the April round is to have planets stop increasing in production points unless they are owned by a player. The only exception to this would be uncolonized planets, which would also continue to increase in production points, but SP Confederation planets would remain at the same production point levels from round to round hereafter. All planets owned by any player would increase in points from round to round. It appears that this was the way that Zygi originally had intended the code to work for round updates, with only player planets increasing in production points based on the comments within the original code describing round updates. However, it was not done that way, so it does represent a relatively major change.

Ok ok, If your gonna do something like this then, why not make planets REALLY worth defending, Allow player to Upgrade planets properly, e.g. Make them 20x's not including buildings

that'll take all the fun out of discovering a high production planet. they'll only be other active players. which unless you pull a proffessor and dump alot of defensive resources on it. Since it is known to someone, that you probably offended by taking the planet, its not going to last long.

Why not have new systems (planets) added as ones are obliterated?

It also raises the value of high x planets somewhat. Currently, people tend to simply obliterate high x planets. By reducing the number of them, they become more valuable. Plus, it didn't used to be that there were any SP drops at all, so this is hardly a completely new situation ;P. If it was so easy to defend high x planets, I'd argue that it would already be done -- players can only spread themselves so thin. Currently, that they are obliterated indicates to me at least, that there are far too many of them floating around ;P.

also I see some paradox if SP planets would have no change in production points while player planets has - means you can find a noob system with 2 planets 10x (player planet and green planet) and one planet 9x (SP planet)
