This essay accounts for 50% of my Christmas assessment mark, and I need to know if it's good or not; I failed history last year, and I'll probably be punished if I fail this year too.

Infleuntial People between 1800 and 2000: Winston Churchill

You all know who I am. I don’t need introductions.

Why should I be saved do you ask? Odd. For if I had never existed then we’d all be speaking German and treating Hitler as a God.

I fought in World War I, saw it’s horrors and survived. I FOUGHT for freedom and justice in Europe. We were all fighting the Germans then, united. It was one of the hardest parts of my life, fighting in the trenches. But I was strong enough to survive.

When the Nazis were re-elected, only I seemed to see their purpose, to invade the world. They re-built their fleet, but nobody acted. They recruited their armies, but nobody acted. The Luftwaffe was created, and still no-one acted. Even when they began the Holocaust, nobody acted. It took the invasion of a country to force Chaimberlain into action, but there was no way to avoid the millions who died. For they were too late.
If I had been ruling the country, then World War II would have been stopped! Before it began! But still, when Chaimberlain resigned the British people saw sense and chose the man who could win a seemingly impossible situation. Luftwaffe were bombing our cities, our fleets were engaged in protecting our quickly depleting supplies and everybody was outnumbered. The Nazis had all of Europe to attack us from, and they weren’t wasting time. Within months, we were starving.
I, however, urged Britain on. Without me, the Nazis would be ruling Europe, perhaps even the world if they had invaded the United States. I was the one who issued rationing. I was the one who was Britain’s rock, standing proud against the Nazi terror. ME.
I inspired the victory of the Battle of Britain and D-Day. Me. Without me, only arians would rule this earth.
Even after WW2, I saw the Soviet threat looming. It was me who gave the name Iron Curtain, and saw the start of the Cold War. This time people listened, and they were ready. Without that…hell, we could be speaking Russian right now!

So why save me? Because I saved the Jewish race and the whole of Europe. How many of YOU can say that truthfully?

Bit lost on the question:

The title is "Influencial People during the 1800-2000 Century"

Doesnt mention people who deserved to be saved.

And is this for history or English? Because if thats English. Thats fine. It's laid out more like a speech.

Yes, seems to familiar and speach like to me for it to get high marks in my book as a Professor.

Also, not clear he can claim to saving the entire Jewish race. Many perished in spite of his efforts, which may have been too little too late. Many also were living outside of Europe and would have survived in spite of Hilter. Many died before Hitler in other Programmes as well, such as in Spain and Russia in prior periods before WW2 but within your broad timeline.

However, Churchill did save Europe from a bad situation with Nazi Germany as a powerful enemy and England standing almost alone against them in fighting for European freedom (with assistance from USA eventually, of course, but Britian was looking a bit lonely at first there).

Actually, if Russia and America had not have got involved (Germany invading russia and Japan attacking the USA), we would all in the UK be speaking german right about now.

Not true, the Holocaust wasn't known until the Russians marched into Treblinka in 1944.

Perhaps change it to "not even the German policy of 'Living Space' forced Europe into action"

The 'Living Space' policy (cannot for the life of me remember it's German name, something like laburnsraum) involved basically using diplomatic tactics to gain land from other countries.


Examples

Anschluss with Austria: Anschluss is the German word for union, in 1938, Germany was renunited (against the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, 1919) with Austria as one nation.

Taking land from Czechoslavakia (spelling?): Initially Germany demanded back the land that had been taken from them in the Treaty of Versailles, but soon after they demanded announced intentions to invade the Czechs. This almost brought Europe into a war in 1938, however it lead to the Munich Agreement, which basically meant that Britain and France agreed with Germany that Czechoslavakia would be inside the German boarders, thus under German control. However this was not renuniting German people with the German Reich (the excuse for both the Anchluss with Austria and the origional taking of the outskirt boarder lands of Czechoslavakia), this was an invasion of a foreign country, using diplomacy instead of bullets.

Those are two basic examples, however if you want historys basic excuse for why this was all allowed to happen, the Locarno Treaties of 1925 are generally considered the reason, involved Germany accepting it's western boarders in Europe, thus allowing them to expand into Eastern Europe without intervention from Britain and France, because they were not near the fight.

It took the invasion of 3 countries, not just 1, to get people acting, the holocaust didn't start until 1943.
