Keshas5 (and keshas4) and many other names that sound like food or other weird names have used rapid restarting of accounts or parallel opening of accounts to provide coords for a new account. Using a different computer and different IP address does not insure that you will not be caught for cheating. Many accounts under any address or location raises red flags and owning many planets quickly that were not captured also raises questions. Patterns of trades, planet trades, and coords captures (especially of newbie systems with green planets) are also strong indicators of cheating.

Serial restarting is definitely annoying to many players, but it is legal. However, restarting multiple accounts within less than a week to gain coords for a later restarted character is not legal, as you are using coords from multiple other accounts all opened within a short period of time to benefit one account. I know there are many who would love to block all forms of restarting by any player, but that is not something I will do. I will seek to remove restarters from the real arena and to extend the period that new players have to gather resources in the training arena, but I will not make life harder for players who are trying to build resources to have a safe homeworld.

In addition, players may sell or trade coords with other players, and may use coords from ONE prior account to capture with ONE new account after restarting without violating game rules. But, rapid restarting with many accounts in a single day is not permitted and is a form of abuse whether from the same computer and IP address or from a different location.

Yes, it's good. That means that my and Keshas plan worked fine.
Of course, it's not good thing that Keshas was suspended for the thing which professor earlier stated as legal (not listening any my arguments), but I hope Keshas will be able to return to the game.

Was he suspended? That's not good. Did he get a warning first?

I think he haven't got any warnings, I talked to him yesterday evening and got his message that he is suspended today afternoon. If he would get any warnings he would tell me (of course after he is suspended he can't read any messages).

Keshas has been testing the envelope and has exchanged many emails with me. He closed Keshas4 yesterday and started up with MANY MANY accounts today (some in parallel with Keshas4 as well) using a separate IP address, but I picked him up due to pattern of activities.

Anyway, he lost no resources to speak of, but he does have about 20 systems he got from the newbie arena via fast serial restarting. Not acceptable abuse of restarting.

Rules will be rewritten soon, but it is not my top priority. Posting here and making a big deal out of this probably is more effective than updating rules anyway. Bottom line is he crossed the line of my patience and tolerance. When Filas did this, he made a point and got my attention. At the time, I could not do anything much about it, but did decide that this was clearly a form of abuse that could indeed cause significant harm to the game.

Now, I found a reason in the rule why this is not allowed, especially when done as Keshas did it.

So, he restarted yesterday with 11 or more accounts opened on one day. He can start tomorrow with only one.

Proof that nagging really does work!

Well, that is one way to look at it. Yes. He is helping define the limits of what is allowed. Not unlike what I did not so long ago with serial restarting. I was VERY vocal about what I was doing and very visible and annoying - on purpose - to help make change happen in policies.
