and we dont really have large supplies Duo, on AIM you brought up invading Canada as a means of gaining oil, if we invaded wed lose all our european allies as Canada is part of NATO and I highly doubt any oil drilling infrastructure would be intact after invasion and you cant just buy infrastructure as you suggested and have it appear and does anyone think we could actually occupy them we have no chance. As for getting oil from the mideat we ARE stretched out thats why tours of duty are being extended because we lack troops large standing army or not its to small to do the job you think it can do

Ok u really wanna know some military stats? i do this a lot in my free time:
The best soldiers (bout 9k) from technical standart: SPAIN , they are the first who are running the "Future soldier" program
best armored forces are : GERMANY the germans have the LEo II and the TIGER as ground support, no other tank or ground support can compare to that in accurancy speed and weaponconfig
fastest mobilisation army are USA: they can get the main ready to move (THE TOTAL) in 3 damn days (thats really fast for an complete army)
biggest group of spec forces is UK: got about 15k special trained forces
Biggest naval fleet is USA
Technical furthest Fleet is Germany (we just got best cause of the new submarines)
Definitly biggest Air Force is the American (man, u can do a war without troops if u have so many bombers, fighters and interceptors)
biggest army is Russia (even if it looks poor)
best trained spec forces is arguable but i would say, the european standart is much higher than the US, USA trains them harder, but we do better
Oh, and believe it or not, Kurdistan is the land with the most NUKEs (of course the others have more, but they aren´t really legal)
best defending country is switzerland (there almost every citizen is trained and keep their weapon to an special age)
worst army is belgium : the belgium soldier wasn´t even wearing a helmet 3 years ago LOL.
Oh, and for future biggest empire i would suggest its JAPAN, when germany uk and usa are in total war against whoever, japan will set foot as biggest trading empire of the world, cause they just keep quiet when everone is declaring war against terror

Fastest Tanks are the Pyro Glass Tanks, Sounds stupid but the Armour is As Strong as Challenger II Tanks, They are 60 mph Tanks (I think) But they are not Common As they Are Having Technical Probs with them

mmh the leo is definitly faster and have a greater operation radius,
the electrical engineering was build from US AND German technology
AND the Abrahams upgrade isn´t made with every Abraham, so just because a dozen ABR are upgraded doesn´t make the whole contigent better
the firing range of an abraham is much further than a mile (the mile is for direct fire) and thats mostly not important but with shooting range abrahams, russian T-80 and Leo II are almost the same.
Oh and about the size of the german army, that is why we doesn´t have so much specialists, the german soldier is trained for almost everything
And Law was changed, so just our troops can´t oversize, (police aso are not in that numbers anymore)
AND we have no paid army, every german has (under circumstances) the duty to serve That makes the biggest difference
so, without thinkin of bombardment, the groundforces can easiliy compare with the US ARMY
not that im proud of it, but german has definitly better fighting expirience than the usa (500 years of war are nothing against 2000 )

Geography and history, my favourite.

It was a good question to start a topic but it has many answers depending on what sort of Empire you're looking for and when you're looking.

Historically in terms of size and influence the biggest ever empire was The British and Commonwealth Empire which covered just over 14,100,000 square miles in the early 1920's

The Mongol Empire was just under 13,000,000 square miles at it's height

The Soviet Empire is a tricky one, if you want to be exacting and just count the Soviet Bloc then it only ever reached just under 10,000,000 square miles.

Spain and it's colonies covered 7,500,000 suare miles around 1770.

There are many, many more so called Empires that could be considered including the WWII Axis powers, the Roman Empire and others, but none come close in size to the four I mentioned above.

Out of pure interest and trivia the "Empire" of the USA only ever reached 3,700,000 at it's height in the early 20th Century and is way down the list at 12th, even then it was pretty much half the size of the Russian Federation as it is now at 6,500,000 square miles.

The media can bring down governments yes, but can hardly be called an Empire as there are so many different factions and they don't work together.
