Right heres a question for you all. Several people are telling me that the President of the USA has little or no power and its all really monopolized corporations that run the goverment (i.e.Enron tells Bush what to do). Now this would explain why all American presidents seem to be stupid (e.g. Kerry saying that he wanted to be "the next black president"... dumbass), but it all seems like a load of rubbish. Maybe you canb help me exactly how much power does the president have?

the pres. does not take order from major corps.....
on the other hand for him to make action or pass laws it must go through parlament ie: congrass and senate, they vote on it, depending on what it partakes to and then if it passes it gets put into effect,
it's like a circle... if congress wants something either the pres. or senate have to vote on it.. 2/3 wins.

and to be toatlly honest right now we have a majority republican party and since bush is republican it's easier for him to get stuff passed.
if Kerry wins we will have a "hung" parlament for at least 2 years, where in parlament will be mostly republican and the pres will be democrat. there fore making it hard for Kerry to get laws passed.

Ironic that the president gets either the credit or the blame for how the country is doing. When in reality he has little (not none) effect on things. He does have power though. Like ability to press 'the button'.
Remember when you are pissed off at americans for invading Iraq that he did that on his own. No vote from congress or 'the people'.

Lochan, Congress did vote to go into Iraq tho, they voted to spend the money needed and they voted to allow the president to keep troops there longer than the 60days (maybe 90) that hes allowed to do without their permission. People no, but most of this country was for and thus so was congress and the president
