I am willing to make the move to being only a player, as long as the sale goes through. Not sure it will. Want restrictions on what can be changed, if there is a sale, and want to have Neggy's SL counsel resurrected to make decisions on changes to the game (with me on the counsel as a player with strong views about future of the game).

Negotiations and discussion on possible sale are ongoing, and it is my sense that the potential buyer will not be a player in the game, but will listen to the senior vets, including me now as a vet, about any changes in the game code that would affect the future of the game.

It is likely that the era of the professor's reign as supreme ruler will be coming to an end, but it also will not mean that Neggy is safe. In fact, it is likely that I will be MORE aggressive in hunting and killing Neggy after a sale than I was before, as I had to balance admin desires to be fair against personal preferences to see Neggy dead. If I had really wanted to cheat, I would have found a lot more of Neggy's planets already and wiped them out, but I have not, and I have only attacked when the coords were brought to me by others who had found them, and then I only attacked as part of a group effort.

I do not have the resources, acting alone, to take down a 167 million defense HW. I did it once, last Fall, versus LTC, but even then, I was unable to finish taking out that HW due to running out of resources for attacking after killing more than 160 million in defenses (but the HW kept getting more defenses added to it, so I could not finish the capture).

Prof don't take the critsism so seriosly. As a good player you will always be critisied by some regardless of game ownership. I personaly would love to see you retain ownership but if you do sell get a huge profit!

Listen, first off, would you guys rather have Professor or some random guy that played SL a year ago be owner/admin?

Secondly, Professor has played this game for ever. He has had many other accounts in the past. He was not a good player like he said he was not above the top 40, BUT, he was a smart player. He used clan banking, he bought the upgrades, he played everything smart. So I'm not surprised that he has that many rescources, after playing for a year or two without attacking and having planets, that's half a maxed HW a month...I'd think that if you did the math he would actaually have more rescources that he does now...

Prof, if you don't want to own the game or for finanical reasons, that's one thing. But if you are selling it just because of accusitions about you playing and owning the game, I beg you to ask your self if the game will be better off for it.

I suspect this game doesn't take in enough revenue to pay for it's self. Does the person who is interested in buying it have the ability and desire to continue to cover the costs for hosting? What happens if this guy looses his "new" job? What happens if he decides it's way to much work for what it's worth? Keep in mind we are talking about a programmer who doesn't want to take the time to program it himself.

I recomend this guy take the months of work to lay out a game concept, code it, test it, and build up a player base. This is what separates "dedicated" game admins from wanna be's. It's like school, you pay thousands of dollars and give up 4 years of your life, just so you can be in debt when you get your first real job, but it weeds out the slackers.
