To Prof and SL community in general.

I am passing on this message from Keshas, he asked me to post this, his explanation, which I must say that I am inclined to believe as we discussed the probable consequences of what he was going to do last week.

Please try to consider what he has said in the context of what he was doing. He has not used the information or coords that he gained using the restarters, either for his real ID or passed on any information of them to anyone else within the game.

I particularly agree with him and some of the others here that rules need to be in all main languages for the different national forums. Perhaps those of the relevant nationalities would be kind enough to volunteer their time to actually carrying out the translation work. I believe Keshas is willing to get started on translation if someone else could also help out.

With regards to the rules of SL, well there arent any really as far as a noob is concerned. Yes we can find many rules spread piecemeal through different forums but one only becomes aware of these after sometime in the game. What is needed is a short sweet and simple definitive rulebook containing at least all of the offences likely to get you suspended etc. Expecting new players to trawl through hundreds of forum posts to find what they are looking for is unrealistic and how are they to instantly recognise who the authority figures are.

Keshas (05:23 PM) :
could you write in sl main forum (where's discussion about me) that i was using many accounts,
coz password was comming very slowly, and i wanted to try all
nonsences which restarters can do. All rules must be systematized and declared in every forum language.
And i declare that keshas5 is my last restarters account.
I used different ip coz it's cheaper (in my job :-D ) It was only form of protest, coz every sort of restarting is illegal, it must be prevented. And noob after he is defeated must get new planets faster than wait when round ends

***By the way, these LT characters were not keshas, just in case anyone was wondering. The reason I posted this here was because of the debate about rules***

It is impossible to get 25 planets in the Newbie Arena without using coords from multiple accounts. You get blocked on nearby with player in immunity after either 5 or 7 planets.

He had 25 planets with 4 or 5 planets captured, and the rest colonized. Don't care if he claims to have done this legally. I do not believe it is possible without using coords from others.

I have helped a lot of serial restarters. The most planets I have ever heard anyone ever being able to get in the newbie arena was 9, and I suspected that player might have cheated, but that was before I was game owner and had any access to such information.

Also, all of these accounts were used within a very short period of time on the same IP address as Keshas4 and Keshas5. At this time, I am really getting pissed off about this and am very, very close to blocking that IP address forever. He may claim that he is getting planets legally, but I say that what he has done is not consistent with game rules that are already posted and which have been posted for a long time. He cheated, and he got caught, and if he wishes to proclaim innocense, then he can do so in another game, not here.

Yeah, but not 25 planets. Eight is also a strange number. You have three in your home system, plus two in each other system you find (normally, as one is player in immunity).

By the way, Filas said he suggested that Keshas do this. Trying to prove a point. Wanted me to set down some firm rules. Well, he pushed me far enough to make this happen, but there was a risk and cost in doing so.

In common law jurisdictions, much of law is not statutory (written out and passed by legislature) but is common law (result of accumulation of judgements and punishments for prior offenses, which establish legal boundaries). In this type of legal system, you can push the limits, but doing so has a cost for those that define the boundaries.

Restarting after 5-10 days with an account, where you close one account completely before opening another, has definitely been ruled as legal. It will eventually be kept to the newbie arena, and moved out of the real arena, but in the meantime, it is legal to restart after playing for at least 5 days with your account and always legal after you have been defeated. Any player with two accounts open at once or with multiple accounts opened and closed in rapid succession (e.g., less than 5 days) is using multiple accounts unfairly and will be blocked not only from the accounts, but from all access via his IP address.

As for the "rules" of SL, I have never seen such a set of rules other than in the Terms of Use, which are not precise as to what is defined as multi account playing. However, these rules will be posted only in English under Terms of Use or Game Rules and translations can be posted in the language forums if needed.

Yep. I used such system:
1. openned new account, wrote down coords, then closed it.
2. repeated action a lot of times when i got proper coords of green planets
3. openned keshas5 and colonized all green planets and some of SP i conquered.
I was using this to turn your attention to damage of restarters. This plan was discussed in chat of our clan. Filas suggested me to do this coz game must be protected for such and similar actions.
Our point was to induce you to creat laws for the game. There weren‘t any laws before you suspended me. So legally I didn’t break any law.

As I said. There must be systemized all rules, laws and bans on one topic and translated to all SL languages. For my part I can translate it to Lithuanian. There are a lot of Lithuanian players who do not know English.

I have not seen before any bans in substantial topics of main forum or administration forum. Maybe there was something mentioned in old discussions, but law should not be hidden between vain literatures.

Most of political crimes are doable passing through gaps of constitution and nobody can stop such perpetrators while gaps are not fixed.

Nice move. All rules must be available for all users at any time.

If rules are to be translated is up to the language moderator of that forum not to professor

As a once multi before i relaized it was illegal i agree that there has to be a set of rules. Its easy to bw luikw well there are unsaid rules but how is a newbie that doesn't really read every single post supose to do? Maybe one of the conditions is to read the rules in the newbie arena? and have a posted somewhere in sl. i believe that this rule is need before anymore changes are done.

Well I think there is 2 sides to everything.

1. It is true that for most newbs it is hard to understand what this game is all about and how it works to begin with. Being defeated is horrible and having to wait till next round (oh boy it is the 2nd of April) sucks. So naturally he will restart. With the first restart comes some insight and understanding, hey I still have some coords from when i got owned, lemme see if those planets still around etc. I remember when i started i couldnt even post here in forums or send private messages, till i found out that since my firewall stripps certain info from being seen, it doesnt work. Anyhow the genuine Newb will not know or understand what so called damage he is doing to the game. I only realised the nuissance of restarters when I had conquered a planet, scanned nearby and detected Voice of Filas .. in Immunity, well ... boom my captured Planet had been captured by him and I couldnt get it back.

2. Keshas seemed to know what he was doing and why he was doing it, so being a newb and unaware of the game structure does certainly not applie to him. That means he was well aware that what he did would give him an advantage by exploiting a game weakness. If for personal gains or to bring it to the professors attention now will never be known. Had he informed Professor prior to doing it, there would be no doubt of his intentions. I have been playing alot of online games and one thing is the same in all of them and that is

"even though something is not explicitly forbidden, if it is found to be exploiting the gamestructure and rules and to be unbalancing to the game the perpetrator faces punishment"

And believe me no whining or crying or begging or threatening or protesting will do a thing and I talk about games where you pay money each month to be able to play. So I think both sides here have made there points and the subject should be clear to all. Professor will probably add the exploitation phrase to the terms of use or even the "Golden Rules of SL" that all need to read when registering. Meanwhile Keshas should start over one final time and be a good boy and play fair. If he ever again wants to publish a flaw in the system make sure you announce your intentions before doing so and do it in a way that does not really harm anyone (inlcuding you)

[Q]1. It is true that for most newbs it is hard to understand what this game is all about and how it works to begin with. Being defeated is horrible and having to wait till next round (oh boy it is the 2nd of April) sucks. [/Q]
golden words

[Q] Anyhow the genuine Newb will not know or understand what so called damage he is doing to the game. I only realised the nuissance of restarters when I had conquered a planet, scanned nearby and detected Voice of Filas .. in Immunity, well ... boom my captured Planet had been captured by him and I couldnt get it back. [Q]

And that means that EVERY sort of restarting is CRIME

""""Golden Rules of SL" that all need to read when registering. """

Rarely player read rules when he registers. He just mark tick on the small window "I agree" and proceeds. If player starts game for reading then he won't play but sit in library.

Rules must be posted in essential topic on the up of every language forum.

[Q] If he ever again wants to publish a flaw in the system make sure you announce your intentions before doing so and do it in a way that does not really harm anyone (inlcuding you) [Q]

This time I didn't harm anyone, coz i had 25 colonized invisible planets :)

But before Keshas5 i had other 4 Keshas accounts and I harmed a lot of players. And i was not the only restarter who do such things.

But moral of story is:

Any lord can not punish people for breaking of laws, cosidering to the fact that there is not any written law.

Why I didn't informed Professor? Coz my idea was to induce take action.
