Bahh. LOL. about half the world's landmass was once colony of Britian. But, Britian could not even hold on to little old Hong Kong. Cowards. Not willing to stand up to 1.3 Billion Chinese with nuclear missles. LOL. Or, for that matter, to a bunch of unarmed Indian protestors.

As for America, it is more reasonable to view Britian and now being an economic colony of the capitalistic economic imperialism of the US government, which clearly seeks to dominate the global economy in every way possible (even if it requires invaiding a few oil fields overseas to do so).

As for history, China can lay claim (via Mongolia, which became part of China, partly by becoming the clan leaders of the nation for a long period of time) to most of the USSR and to a modest amount of area in Eastern Europe, as well as to most of Asia at one point or another in history. This claim to a global land grab is much older than the claim of Britian, and it probably would be wise not to underestimate Chinese ambitions in this century.

Not quite so Prof, "China" or the Chinese have never laid claim to most of the what you term as the "USSR" and have never existed as claim layers in any part of what might be termed Eastern Europe. Mongolia yes. You seem to be referring to the Mongols who cannot possibly be construed as ever having been Chinese, given that the Chinese themselves had such problems with them before the age old Chinese strategy of quiet absorbtion took its course. Historically wiith the exception of the last 70 years, China has exerted little military dominance outside of its own borders.

Yup, China tried to claim Taiwan. A while ago, China was hinting if Taiwan declared independence, China will declare war on Taiwan. The only thing that prevented China from delcaring war was a fleet of US Aircraft Carriers, travel close to Taiwan to prevent it, if it happened and also I don't think Taiwan has officially declared independence yet. A bit of history. I'm from Taiwan.
